Les autorités saoudiennes ont arrêté la célèbre savante Aisha Al-Muhajiri, apparemment parce qu’elle a continué à prêcher et à enseigner le Coran chez elle dans la ville sainte de La Mecque. L’enseignante de 65 ans aurait été arrêtée par «20 membres des services de renseignement saoudiens».
Selon Prisoners of Conscience, qui rapporte l’arrestation et la répression par le gouvernement saoudien d’activistes et de personnalités publiques, deux autres femmes ont été arrêtées aux côtés de la savante Aisha d’Al-Muhajiri. « L’une des deux femmes a 80 ans, tandis que la famille de l’autre femme a refusé de révéler des informations à son sujet », a déclaré le groupe.
À la suite de leurs arrestations, il a été signalé que toute personne qui pose des questions sur les détentions ou les charges retenues risque également d’être arrêtée, y compris les propres enfants d’Al-Muhajiri. « Nous confirmons que les fils de la prédicatrice Aisha Al-Muhajiri ont été menacés de détention lorsqu’ils ont posé des questions à son sujet après son arrestation », ont déclaré les prisonniers d’opinion. Les autorités auraient déclaré: « Nous arrêterons quiconque poserait des questions à son sujet ».
Le groupe a souligné qu’Aisha Al-Muhajiri était détenue dans la prison de Dhahban près de la ville côtière de Djeddah.
